LBI/GLL/BETTER APPROVE BUDGET TO START REPAIRS TO SOBELL ROOF,
NO START DATE FIXED AS YET

10 FEBRUARY  2023

QUOTE FROM 'BETTER/GLL' ON DEVELOPMENTS:

Pretty much everything on the ground floor has now been written off and works have been underway to remove damaged material. This has been incredibly difficult, labour intensive and specialist work. To give you a sense of scale 119 tonnes of waste have been removed from the site as of the beginning of January and 5 tonnes of steel. We have had to strip out all of the floors in order to expose pipe works and then issue further surveys on the areas that have been exposed before removing those. All of this work has unfortunately made it very difficult to give a timescale for re-instatement and re-opening of the different facilities. The ice rink in its entirety has now been fully written off and there is structural damage that has also been discovered in this area which was far more extensive than we had initially envisaged. We also having to repair/replace elements of the Sobell roof to some key areas of the centre which needs to be co-ordinated in with the reinstatement works as ensuring the areas are water tight prior to installing new surfaces and finishes is paramount .
