The annual Sobell squash tournament was held this Saturday - it was great fun and saw some excellent matches.
Kevin Jackson narrowly beat Richard Bangay in a hard, close semi-final. Less than an hour later he played me in the final. It was a good match, with some good shots and lots of running. I took the first game 18-16, but Kevin raised his game, for a deserved 3-1 win. Congratulations Kevin.
Donal Murphy played very nicely to win the B tournament. Richard Bowman, Sebastian Keuchel and Al Mitchell and many others all played very well. Every player in the tournament had a great attitude - I can't think of a single bad tempered game.
Thanks to Sobell / GLL management for supporting the tournament with subsidized courts. The Sobell staff on the day, including the duty manager Leon, made us feel very welcome and made sure the courts were clean and safe to play on.
